Above & Beyond

An intimate and customized leadership experience created for asian american leaders by asian american leaders who actually get it.

To advance in your career, one size does NOT fit all, especially since the current definition of leadership comes from the gaze of a white male executive. Learn the leadership skills needed to succeed at work- where you are seen, felt, and heard by all.

WHy now?

If you’re reading this you have probably experienced or witnessed the unique challenges and struggles that being an Asian is in the workplace.

No longer considered an under-represented minority [URM- oftentimes used in DEI circles at work to identify groups to support], Asians are experiencing a double-edged sword effect- still the least likely of minority groups [including Black and Latinx groups] to be promoted into managerial roles or executive roles. So while well represented in individual contributor or ‘staff’ roles, Asian leaders are few and far between in managerial ranks which funnel into executive roles.

Considering the recent social justice issues and pandemic-related xenophobia, creating a leadership experience that enables, empowers and activates Asian leaders at work and in life is integral to navigating through the pandemic.

3 Ways Our Approach is Different...

Be Seen

Be Heard

  • Advocate using Influence, negotiation and conflict management skills to have courageous conversations

  • Craft a strategic vision statement that moves, touches and inspires
  • Build self awareness & knowledge to the multiple social identities that create unique differentiators and challenges to how you show up and are perceived at work

  • Differentiate with a leadership brand where you move, touch and inspire

BE NOTICED

  • Activate energy management techniques to show up in a sustainable, powerful way

  • Power through presence with your head, heart & body. Your presence speaks louder than your voice

I’m more confident and courageous instead of being scared about how people will think or react. Hearing other Asian women's voices made me feel like it’s not just me being in the corner. In the past, I would never want to speak up or let people interrupt me. I didn’t realize how much I was doing it until this workshop and hearing other people having the same experience. Now I’m showing up differently and a lot more open and willing to open myself up. I think before I was always more reserved and wondering if what I'm doing is good enough. Now I just feel like I have to put myself out there, and I think it's good enough. And so I'm not afraid of what other people are going to think about it. I feel like I've come a long way from when I first started.

My industry is a predominately white male led field which still fosters pockets of outdated limiting views of women and minorities. I wished I had a coach like Minji when I started. Her unique approach made me aware of the factors at play and the unique issues specifically facing Asian American women in leadership. I realized many women were facing the same challenges as myself and I was not alone. I appreciated how Minji did not bs and facilitated deeper, authentic discussions on tough issues. I would highly recommend Minji’s program, it is uniquely impactful and insightful, and would offer great value for any woman looking to step into leadership.

I definitely recommend this experience and it’s a great way to connect with other Asian American woman professionals. I really enjoyed the experience of being able to meet with the same group for several weeks and I felt that I was able to get a lot of insight and do a lot of self reflection into my own actions and behaviors and how they impact my personal and professional development. I really enjoyed this program, and I would definitely recommend it for others.

This group has made me realize that I'm not alone, especially with some of the unique challenges that Asian American women contend with in the workplace. It actually made me feel not crazy, which is always a positive thing given some of the double bind issues and intersectionality with Asian American women in the workplace. I definitely recommend this program and feel that it is a great way to connect with other Asian American women professionals. And I also really enjoyed the experience of being able to meet with the same group for several weeks and I was able to get a lot of insight and do a lot of self reflection into my own actions and behaviors and how they impact my personal and professional development.

Not only do I think it's a great support system where it provides a safe space for women of color to share experiences, it's also a great source of inspiration where we learn and grow.

This experience allowed me the space to reevaluate and re envision my future goals.

Minji is skillful at creating an environment that helps an individual define their goals, find clarity, and foster personal connections.

This experience has been really positive, helpful, centering and focusing on myself and carving out that time every week and making sure I get it. It's given me courage and a push to take intentional steps and create more about what I'm going to do. And it's been really nice to be able to connect and feel like I have a supportive group, even though we’ve just met.

- Hanh H

I'm grateful to have had this experience to hear stories from other really strong Asian American women. It's allowed me time for self care once a week and I really appreciate the guided introspection. I haven't had time to do that in a little while. And sometimes, I feel like that's something that is hard for me to do in isolation.

- Lemme L

One of the best things about this experience is being able to gather and connect with people who share similar backgrounds. Knowing that I’m not alone and we’ve grown up very similarly with very high expectations, even though we have different families, we all have this in common. The content helped ground the conversations we had and I enjoyed the pre work and curriculum that provided insight to discussion.

- Lorrie L

The holistic approach to leadership this course takes: mind, health, body language, spirituality, how to respond to racism, bias awareness, resolving conflict was much needed. It was great to carve out time weekly to envision future success with a powerful coach and diverse set of fellow ambitious women of color. I enjoyed the content, the camaraderie and variety of different paths being taken in our group, and the time set aside to take care of ourselves and each other.

This experience has been a wonderful opportunity to take stock, reflect, and learn with a supportive group of women. We covered topics such as presence, renewal, vision, and the power of personal connections. Though I had worked with Minji before, I was surprised to see how much had changed within a few short years when it came to personal fulfillment and goals. The wellness aspect she brought into each session really distinguishes this program, because it really puts into practice the whole mind-body connection, and is particularly important to make time for in the present day.
